Vernissage picture exhibition at C.G. Jung institute
At C.G. Jung-Institut Zurich
Following his realization of the transformative effects of creative engagement with his own inner figures and evolving method of active imagination (as revealed in his famous Red Book), Jung encouraged his patients and fellow analysts to engage in similar processes of dialogue and creative expression of their dreams, visions and fantasies. In the late 1950’s Jolande Jacobi began collecting the pictures that accumulated from such practices. Jung subsequently donated his own collection of some 4500 patient works to the Institute, and the pictures archive was established. A valuable educational and research resource for analysts and students of analytical psychology as well as interested public, the archive now holds over 10,000 images, plus photographs and other historical documents. The study of these case materials reveals the mysterious and transformative power of active encounter and struggle with the unconscious.
